Remind yourself that the current situation is different from abuse:

  • We are not alone
  • We are problem-solving together as best we can
  • While we are powerless against the forces of nature (in this case, a virus), we are not powerless to mitigate its damage
  • We are not being intentionally hurt
  • We can speak out loud about our struggles instead of keeping secrets
  • We can understand and make meaning out of our experience
